Here’s to unexpected adventures

Here’s a story for you this Christmas season.
I have always planned and hoped and prayed for 2 kids, especially getting married in my late thirties. We talked about it during the time we dated, were engaged and consistently since we married. That was it. Michael and I were blessed to have a girl and less than two years later, a boy. Our family was complete. Well, in July/August of 2021, during what was one of the hardest years of my/our lives, I was praying for relief, for help, for all of it to stop. And in the middle of that prayer, I felt like God said we were going to have another child.
Judah was not quite 6 months old, and I had just been released from the ICU after nearly losing my life to pneumonia and sepsis. I didn’t say anything to anyone, but for sure thought God was joking. Well, 2 mornings later, my husband woke up and told me about a dream he just had where we were leaving the hospital, carrying a third child. I told him about my prayer, and we were stunned and overwhelmed and sure God had the wrong Allison/Michael husband/wife combo.
Still not believing this could be true (and having suffered a terrible miscarriage in Oct 2021), I donated/sold all of our baby stuff after Judah turned 1. And life moved forward and we didn’t think much about it anymore.
So, this is where we are right now. That family pic was after Christmas Eve service and that arrow is pointing to a baby BOY 25 weeks along. (not to mention this pic is the best one my dad took, so, I’m embracing our real life). So, these precious kiddos get promoted come early April (ish). I can’t say I’m sad to see this princess as a strong female lead. She can do it and is already such a big helper.
And big boy will turn two before then and keeps us all on our toes. I’m trusting what they say about kids close in age becoming the best of friends is true. (we see it happening with the two we have!)
Here’s to unexpected adventures, trusting in the plans of God (even when they aren’t ours), and to a life of more hope, fun, blessing and chaos than we knew to ask for…
ps – if you are selling or donating baby items or clothes, we are most definitely in the market! Please reach out.
