BACKGROUND

Ndoto: For Africa’s Future is a Christ-centered community development organization that works in the Obunga slum of Kisumu, Kenya. Ndoto is a Swahili word meaning “dream.” We aim to give at-risk youth a chance to dream for themselves, their community, and the kingdom of God through education, discipleship, and development.

Communications Specialist and Content Creator

Job Type: Full Time

The Content Creator and Communications Specialist will work alongside various parts of the Ndoto organization to manage communications in collaboration with the US-based team. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualification.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Manage a monthly schedule of communication management in collaboration with US-based director to promote the work of Ndoto.
  • Draft photo, video, and written content for use on social media platforms, websites, and email communications.
  • Support Ndoto team in organizing initiatives and planning for the major events.
  • Direct the receiving and distribution of student and sponsor letters in collaboration with US-based director.
  • Take formal student photos as well as live-action photos of Ndoto events of all kinds, remaining available for occasional evening or weekend job assignments.
  • Collaborate with the education department while making calls for sponsorship applications on an annual basis.
  • Assist in communication from senior leadership to the team as well as from the organization out to the community.
  • Enhance the visibility of Ndoto: For Africa’s Future in Kenya.
  • Manage other responsibilities as may be occasionally assigned by leadership.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a diploma or degree from a college or university. A program related to communications or content creation is a plus.
  • Must have proven experience of at least 3 years in a communications or content creation field.
  • Must have proven experience in photography and videography, and website management experience is a plus.
  • Must have proven experience in copywriting and editing.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles and strategies is a plus.
  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office, photo editing, and video editing.
  • Must have excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Must have an excellent command of English.
  • Must have outstanding organizational and planning abilities.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work in collaboration with others.
  • Must be a born-again Christian.
